Moving home is always a big decision, particularly when you’re over 60 and looking for somewhere new to spend your retirement years. You may want to consider somewhere a little different to the more traditional options, perhaps with a variety of facilities and activities such as those offered within a retirement village.
Although still a fairly new concept in the UK, interest in retirement communities is growing as the ageing population rises. An increasingly computer-savvy older generation is utilising the internet to gather information on a range of accommodation choices. We’ve been working with St George’s Park Retirement Village in Burgess Hill, East Sussex, to help those in the early stages of the decision-making process by bringing the setting to life with a Google Business Tour.
Retirement flats at St George’s Park surround a central ‘village centre’, where there’s plenty available for those who want a choice of services and activities as part of their day-to-day living. We took over 1,000 photos to produce a two-storey tour to highlight some of these, including the reception and concierge desk, restaurant, dining areas, library, therapy room, games room, gym, shop and outside gardens.
Said Executive Director of St George’s Park, Philip Smith, “Many people who come to St George’s Park tell us how surprised they are at just what is available here and how much better it is than they expected. The aim of our internet tour is to help those considering a move to build up a picture of what makes a retirement village and to get a genuine feel for the surroundings. We hope that, as a result, they will then want to come and visit us in person.”
