Eat, drink and browse - indoors and outNumber 49 Interior

Beautiful interior goods, a relaxing coffee house and wine bar, and an award winning garden make up this week's favourite tour of Number 49 in Usk.
Here you'll find rooms displaying a fabulous range of stylish home wares, along with indoor and outdoor seating where customers can enjoy tea, coffee or a glass of wine, set amongst a beautiful backdrop.
Interior design
Owner Andrea Sholl opened Number 49 just under two years ago. With an already established career in interior design, she was looking for the chance to set up a base from a High Street location. 
When the opportunity arose to take over what was previously a cafe and second hand clothing shop at number 49 Bridge Street, Andrea was keen to get started. Using her design skills, and the help of her wonderfully practical husband, Martin, she got to work on renovating and refurbishing the entire building. 
And the result is really quite stunning.
Blooming lovely
The beautiful building welcomes you to an array of sophisticated interior goods for sale, including fabrics, furniture and knick-knacks, all displayed in classily decorated rooms. Walls are adorned with huge mirrors and clocks, ceilings with striking chandeliers, and the floors with natural wood or tile effect.
Not content with keeping alterations just to the inside of Number 49, Andrea has also designed and created a vibrant outside space. Filled with an abundance of flower baskets, tubs, climbers, and plenty of other eye-catching pieces, it's not surprising to learn the garden won a Gold medal in the 2014 Usk in Bloom competition. Award Winning Garden
Even the wall of an old bakehouse has been restored to become part of the al fresco setting, complete with the original bread oven and chimney breast which they hope to get working next year. 
Ongoing project
Alterations are ongoing still, with the recent refurbishment of two additional rooms bringing the total to six, and enabling the interiors range to be extended and extra seating to be added. With the business now able to accommodate up to 120 people, Andrea is starting to take bookings for private events, including a wedding reception later this year.
There are more plans for the garden too, once the weather warms up. Martin is keeping these under wraps at the moment, but he tells us they may include extra foliage, oak frames and the addition of a few secluded areas.
For now however, customers can enjoy a warm respite from the wintery weather and relax by one of the new log burners which make it, as Martin tells us, "really cosy in here."
