A Cosy Corner for Coffee and Cake

If we're looking for somewhere to stop for a drink and a bite to eat, we'll usually try and find a characterful independent rather than a coffee shop chain. Standing on the corner of two busy shopping streets in Anstey, is the perfect example of the sort of place we love to stumble upon.

Nook Corner Coffee Shop is a charming cafe; its stylish, pale grey exterior leading into a beautifully warm and welcoming space. Here, inside one of the oldest buildings in the village, is a cute and quirky destination which combines the charm of stunning original 18th century features with comfortable and contemporary furnishings.

Serving up aromatic freshly ground coffee accompanied by delectable home-made food, it's the ideal place to sit, relax and refresh our weary post-Christmas souls.

Sweet & Treats

A clean and bright space of timber beams and stone floors greets visitors to Nook Corner Coffee Shop. The wide serving counter awaits just inside the door, sandwiched between cabinets displaying the most delicious-looking hand-made truffles, deep sponges, delicate macarons and tempting sweets. We particularly loved the colourful rows of sugar mice - a real blast from the past of our younger years.

There are plenty of seating options offered by the squashy leather sofas, bar stools or clusters of tables and chairs. Tucked just around a corner, a couple of brick steps lead up to another relaxing space; hidden away at the back of the building like a snug little secret.

A trip to the top of the wooden staircase takes you to more tables upstairs. There's seating on both sides of the huge roof beam - a striking feature which stretches across the room (as well as keeping everything in place, by the look of it). With the caramel coloured wooden floors, chocolate brown seating and soft splashes of lighting, it's another wonderfully cosy space.

Jams & Jewellery

As well as home-made food, locally sourced supplies are also important to Nook Corner. The coffee arrives fresh and ready to grind from a nearby family-run business. Slabs of creamy fudge come from a local supplier, tempting us with their mouth-watering flavours of lemon meringue, raspberry ripple and Christmas pudding. Jams, chutneys and oils are also on sale, and you can even do a spot of gift shopping amongst the stylish selection of jewellery and scarves.

So, if you want to support your local independents while stopping for a well-earned coffee, and sit in surroundings bursting with nooks, crannies and oodles of character, this is definitely a place to visit next time you're in town.
