A Refreshing Retreat

Eat and Drink at The Pantry CafeThere's something quintessentially English about the charming cafe we've chosen as this week's favourite tour. The Pantry Cafe in Havant is set out as if you've stepped straight back into the 1940s.

Travel back in time to a delightful place where you can slow your pace of life and enjoy something to eat and drink in a relaxing sunny atmosphere, whatever the time of year.

Fresh Food

Charmed by the wide bay window, beamed ceiling and olde worlde interior of this charming traditional tearooms, owner Marie took over the business in Havant in summer 2015.

With previous food experience gained from running a mobile catering business, Marie has sprinkled a few of her own touches around the place and freshened up the menu from that which was previously offered to one which now boasts more substantial foody options throughout the day.

Along with the traditional teas, coffees and cakes that you'd expect from a place like this, The Pantry Cafe opens at 8.30am for hearty breakfasts, with other meals including home-made burgers, quiches and soups served throughout the day.

Summer Vibe

As well as with the outside of the building with its cheerful signage, step inside the cafe and there's an instant light and summery feel. Tables laid out with cupcake covered cloths, pretty fabric bunting, flowers in china vases, and a hot-pink ice cream counter infuse the atmosphere with the warmth of sunnier seasons.

Fuchsia-toned cushions are scattered across the seating and a bright welcome awaits from Marie and staff at the hatch-style serving counter which gives a porthole into the traditionally decorated kitchen beyond.
Gifts at The Pantry Cafe

Fresh Air

Although inside an old building with a low, dark-timbered ceiling, there's plenty of natural light which streams into the cafe. A large front window, along with patio doors at the back which lead to more seating in a cosy courtyard garden, ensure the space is never gloomy.

Take the couple of steps leading up to this outside space and you pass a collection of gorgeous gifts and food related knick-knacks on sale, carefully set out upon wooden dressers, table and shelves.

Revive the Soul

This is a destination where you can travel back to a bygone age to eat, drink or just browse for a traditional memento to take away with you. A welcoming and refreshing retreat from modern life and the busy streets outside.
