An Italian Waterway in Scotland

Gambero Rosso RestaurantSet in a long stone building with huge wooden shutters over windows which give a view of the canal alongside, is where you'll find this little piece of Italy in Scotland.

Just north of the town centre of Falkirk is a beautifully furnished, stylish canal-side restaurant serving up an authentic taste of this part of the Mediterranean.

It may not be quite the waterways of Venice, but it's the next best thing.

Polished & Cosy

Carefully refurbished and brought up to date, Gambero Rosso Italian restaurant sits inside an old building which was once a boat house, fruit market, garage and a bar before becoming the stunning venue it is today.

Step inside in the virtual tour and the rich, wood floors, ceiling beams, stone walls and glass light-shades make for a polished setting. A large open reception area with huge mirrors and a grand piano greets you as you enter by the large glass front door. Behind is a spacious waiting area of deep brown sofas and wood burning stove offering a welcoming space for guests to sit and relax while waiting for a table.

Two levels of restaurant seating lie beyond. For those who enjoy ultra-relaxed, booth-type dining, a line of tables at the far end of the room provide U-shaped leather seating where friends and family can cosy up to eat.

Large, arched windows give a clear view of the canal and lock outside, with the paved area running alongside the building providing a popular open air and water-side space in which to sit during warmer months.

Like many modern diners, we love a restaurant where you can watch your meals being created. Embracing the trend of an open kitchen, Gambero Rosso has a wide window through which can you see the chefs hard at work in their gleaming stainless steel domain.

Next to this, a long, chocolate-hued leather and timber bar runs the remaining length of the room; the shelves behind loaded with rows of bottles of wines and spirits.
