We love this week's favourite virtual tour for its fun factor. Not only is Kettering Sewing Studio bursting with just about everything you could possibly need for sewing, knitting and crafting, the owner's dog Woody helps with running the shop.
Take the tour and you can spot Cockapoo Woody behind the till. Cute as a button in his red t-shirt, he is often in the shop greeting customers with a friendly wag of the tail.
"Woody is our 'Insecurity Guard,'" said Jan, a partner in the business, "offering free cuddles."
Take the Virtual Quiz
Kettering Sewing Studio is a treasure trove of a location, filled with shelves displaying a kaleidoscope of coloured fabrics, wools, cottons, buttons and ribbons. Living proof that traditional crafts never go out of fashion, it's a busy destination for those who love to make and do.
Keen to keep up with the latest marketing methods too, the Studio is active on social media with a buoyant Facebook site. Putting their creativity to good use, they've used this to post a fun competition which makes the most of their virtual tour. Take the tour and see if you can answer their questions:
Can you find the humming bird?
What does it say on the back of Woody's shirt?
How much was the penultimate sales transaction for? (You might need to zoom in for this one).
With the crafting industry enjoying a surge in popularity in recent years, Kettering Sewing Studio is a popular shop which has been trading for over 8 years. Perhaps it's due to the calm and de-stressing distraction that sewing and knitting offers from busy lifestyles, or maybe the satisfaction that comes from producing something original and beautiful with your own fair hands. We think it's probably a bit of both.
Whatever the reason, there's something that lifts our spirits about the ability to create something special which we can proudly say is hand-made.
Sit and Knit
Drawing in both customers with existing skills and others who are keen to pick up some new ones, Kettering Sewing Studio offers a long list of classes which run all the year round. There are 19 (no less!) this January alone, shared between their two shops in Kettering and Northampton. You can learn to crochet, get to grips with using a sewing machine, create beautiful fabric flowers, or even knit your own slippers.
So, if you've a passion for patchwork, craving for crochet or just want to let your creative spirit loose with a fun and productive new hobby, let this magnet of a shop draw you in and fire your imagination with the abundance of vibrant materials within.
