The Virtual Future is Here

We're excited to announce the launch of a new Virtual Reality (VR) app developed by Better Reach for Oxford Brookes University to showcase the campus to potential students around the world.

The Oxford Brookes VR HSS has been developed using the latest VR technology to help students make key decisions when looking to enrol for future studies.

Using an android phone and VR headset, students can experience a 360 degree virtual tour of more than 45 areas of the University, including two campuses, the library, lecture theatres, teaching rooms, chapel, Japanese rooms, restaurant and bars.

Amongst the many places to explore, viewers can stand on a balcony to look down over the spacious reception area, and see the striking new public art sculpture suspended overhead in the John Henry Brookes Building.

An easy menu interface allows 'quick jumps' to different locations for fast and easy navigation.

The days of offering just a brochure and website are fast disappearing. Students visiting on Open Days will be able to take a very real visual reminder of the facilities home with them. It's especially valuable for those living long distances away, including overseas, for whom travel to the University can be logistically difficult.

"Virtual Reality is the future," said Better Reach managing director Stuart Edmonstone, "not just for universities but for any business looking for opportunities to use the latest technology to showcase their premises to potential customers world-wide.

"Viewers can immerse themselves in a 3D tour of the facilities, experiencing the location as if they were visiting in person."

Is this the first VR University tour? We've found a few in America but, as far as we can tell, numbers are limited in the UK.

The virtual future is catching on fast. Someday soon, every living room in the land will have a VR headset.

Forward-thinking businesses don't want to get left behind.
